Welcome to the MCMS Library!

My name is Tara Ussery, your school librarian/media specialist. This is my fourth year at Mid-Carolina Middle, and I love being a part of the Rebel Family!

My husband and I have been married 23 years; we have two daughters (Alexa, 22 and Meredith, 19). Our family lives in Irmo, SC with our two dogs, Copper (our 10 year-old Chesapeake Bay Retriever) and Minnie (our 3 yr. old Morkie).

Our media assistant is Dena Pollard. This is her 3rd year at MCMS.

It is our passion to ensure that students are effective users of ideas and information. We want the library to be a place where students and staff can THINK, CREATE, SHARE, AND GROW.

Our mission is to empower students as they become critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information. Our ultimate goal is to cultivate a mindset of life-long learning.

Experience

This is my 21st year in education. I taught in the classroom in a middle school setting (5 years), K-5 setting (10 years), and in a K-12 media center for 5 years.
