Stump grinders tend to accomplish their task by the use of a high-speed disk with teeth that grind the stump and roots into small chips.
Can my stump be ground?
Most trees that have been removed are also able to have their stumps ground out. Some stumps may have to be removed because it's in the way or for safety reasons. But there are situations where some stumps may be hard or impossible to remove.
EXAMPLES:
Some areas might have limited access, or we are unable to get the necessary machines to the stump.
Trees in small planters or to near to concrete or other hardscape (Pavers, Bricks, Ect.). Some cases require removal of the surrounding material or risk of damage to property and equipment.
Stumps close to structures might be hard to grind because of the chance of damaging footings, underground utilities, pipes, and foundation.
Benefits
Regain Landscaping space: Tree stumps can be visually unappealing, take up room, and even be considered a hazard depending on the Location and if the roots are risen. By having the stump and roots removed you allow yourself to avoid a possible hazard or regain more yard! (Don't forget how nice a flat lawn is to mow over a root infested one.)
Stop Possible Resprouting: No one wants to pay to have the same tree removed again years down the road. By having you stump ground you can avoid possible regrowth of your unwanted tree/shrub.
CONS
Heavy equipment may damage your lawn
unknown utility lines could be hit. To avoid possible damage to lines you can call local services (811 call before you dig)
