I have been teaching Gateway since August of 1990- yes I am teaching the second generation for at least two families. I graduated from Warren G. Harding High School, and got an Elementary Education Degree from Grove City College. I have a Master's Degree in Reading from Westminster College and became certified to teach Gifted through Ashland University. Although the curriculum and the kids have changed over the years, it continues to be my desire to challenge and enrich the lives of these identified gifted or high achieving students.
I have been married to Joe since 1975. We have been blessed with two adult children who have married and given us six grandchildren. We love piano recitals, Sunday afternoon soccer marathons, tee ball, youth theater, and taking them to Disney World. We have taught Sunday School to two and three-year-olds for more than 25 years (so we are on the second generation there too.) We love the small group that meets at our house each month and the women's book club that meets weekly during the summer.
I think of Gateway as a deep pool. Some students have been thrown in and will swim immediately, some will struggle, some will refuse to kick their feet and need to be pulled up from the bottom. In any case, I have no intention of letting anyone drown.
I am so excited to be a part of the Lakeview Middle School staff this year teaching 7th grade Language Arts and serving as the library media specialist! My name is Billie Gillespie, and this is my eight year teaching at Lakeview Middle School. After living in both Raleigh, North Carolina, and Richmond, Virginia, where I had been teaching sixth, seventh, and eighth grade Reading, Language Arts and Science for four years, I returned to Ohio to continue my career. I received my Middle Childhood Education degree from the University of Akron. I am certified to teach Science, Reading and Language Arts to grades 4-9. I also graduated from Kent State University with a Masters of Library and Information Science. I have been married to my husband, Ryan, for thirteen years. We have two children, Rylie and Landon, who both attend Lakeview Elementary School. I feel so blessed to be at Lakeview Middle, and I'm looking forward to an awesome year!
I love teaching science because it encourages students to discover new elements about their world. It is a discipline where students learn through hands on activities and can test their own hypothesis. In seventh grade science we will develop problem solving skills and establish a foundation for understanding the natural world.
I earned my B.S. in Middle Childhood Education from Y.S.U. and my Masters in Education Leadership from the University of Cincinnati. I taught in Youngstown for five years, before joining the staff at Lakeview in 2007. I married my high school sweetheart in 1981, and we now have four adult children. We are a close military family who strongly believes in “God, Family, and Country.” “Science is a way of thinking much more than it is a body of knowledge.”
Forever a Bulldog! That’s me...I was fortunate to grow up in this wonderful community and have fond memories as a graduate from Lakeview High School. I received my bachelor’s degree in Education from Bowling Green State University and a master’s degree from Marygrove College in Michigan. Teaching mathematics in this district has been my privilege for 32 years, and I am proud to be part of such a successful team of teachers. In my classroom, I strive to create and maintain an environment where your child can gain confidence with their math skills and widen their appreciation of how mathematics relates to the real world.
I have also had the privilege to teach all four of my own children and have a supportive husband who coaches volleyball in the district. We are all outdoor enthusiasts and love backpacking, fishing, climbing mountains, among other outdoor sports. I love my job and my goal is to help students reach their fullest potential. Thank you for your support throughout the year. Go Bulldogs!
I have been teaching in the Lakeview School District since 2006. Prior to teaching here I was a high school history teacher at Newton Falls for 5 years. My wife is a high school English teacher at Champion and we have four of our own girls. My interests include the topics of geography, government, sociology and world history. In my spare time i enjoy reading a lot of books, running, and going places with my daughters. I look forward to having your children this year in class and hope to spark an interest in them, in order to think critically, question, or learn something new.

I currently teach 7th grade Math. I have been teaching in Lakeview since 2010, beginning in the Title One Reading Program for the elementary grades. Since then I have predominantly taught both Reading and Math in multiple grade levels.
I have been a Lakeview Bulldog since 2001 when my family moved here from Michigan - our 6th move as a family. Though I have called several states “home”, I grew up in Howland. My husband and I have been married for 30 years and we have a son, Joey, who graduated from Lakeview in 2012.

I became a teacher 32 years ago because I enjoyed working with fresh, young minds, and I was committed to instilling a lifelong enthusiasm for reading. This remains my mission, although I have also become passionate about teaching students to express their thoughts through writing. I graduated with a B.A. in English from Villanova University (Go Wildcats!!) and a degree in Education from Rosemont College. While teaching 8th grade in Westerville, Ohio, I earned a Masters in Early and Middle Childhood Education and a Reading Specialist Certificate from The Ohio State University. (Go Buckeyes!) I have four children, one darling granddaughter, a favorite son-in-law, and a supportive husband. My family knows teaching and coaching are priorities in my life, and they are respectful of my commitment.
