About the Snare Drum
The snare drum is the smallest drum in the percussion section
This is the most popular drum and is used in nearly all styles of music
For beginners, practice pads should be used to dampen the loud sound
Snare drum is a rhythm instrument - you cannot play a melody on the snare drum
Players of these instrument are unique in that they don’t just play one instrument. Percussion players are responsible for learning an entire family of instruments
Percussion instruments are heard in nearly every type of instrumental music group
They are a vital part of bands, symphony orchestras, jazz groups and rock groups
Many percussion instruments can even be great solo instruments
