Class Formats

Courses are offered in several formats!

1. In-person

   • These have weekly scheduled class sessions that meet only in-person. (Note: these classes are labeled on NEIUport by the campus that the course meets at: Main Campus or "MC," El Centro, Carruthers Center, etc.)

2. Remote Learning (RL)

   • These have weekly scheduled class sessions that meet only virtually through a video conferencing software, such as Google Meet or Zoom. (Note: by the start of the semester, your professor will provide you with the web link to access the virtual cass meetings.)

3. Online Learning (OL)

   • These have NO virtual class sessions and NO in-person class sesions (which is why the class meeting schedule may be listed on NEIUport as "TBA" or to-be-announced, because the class actually never will meet). These courses involve viewing/reading pre-recorded lectures, as well as completing required readings and assignments, by weekly deadlines listed on the syllabus. You can complete this weekly work at any times and days of your choosing from home on your own, as long as they are completed on time.

4. Hybrid

   • These utilize more than one of the above course formats (e.g., remote + in-person, online + in-person, etc.).
