People often ask, "Why are the students of Notre Dame College Prep nicknamed the Dons?" The short answer is that the first principal of the school, Reverend James d'Autremont,CSC, chose the nickname because of its Spanish translation of "gentlemen" as a nod to our mission of educating young men to be gentlemen of faith, scholarship and service. He felt strongly in selecting a nickname of meaning to guide the students and it has stood the test of time. In fact, it has evolved from simply a nickname into a phenomenon in the Notre Dame College Prep community. Being a Don comes with the responsibility of upholding the tradition and code of ethics of the Dons who came before you and the ones who will follow. It's truly something special and a life-long connection.
NDCP guides students using its core principles of faith, scholarship and service and provides a challenging curriculum to meet the individual needs of a diverse student body.
