An Affordable, Faith-Based Education
Tuition Support for Notre Dame Families
Notre Dame Catholic School is committed to making a quality, faith-based education accessible to every family, and thanks to Iowa's school choice opportunities, that commitment is more achievable than ever! All those seeking a Christ-centered learning environment for their child are welcome at Notre Dame, and financial circumstances will never be a barrier to enrollment.
A variety of tuition assistance programs are available to help cover most of your child's K-5 tuition, often at little to no cost to your family. You do not need to be Catholic to receive support, and some programs have no income requirements. Every family at Notre Dame is encouraged to learn about and explore all available assistance options.
Tuition assistance options outlined below are for students entering grades K-5 only; incoming preschool students do not qualify.
Thursday, January 1 - STO applications open on FACTS
Thursday, April 16 - ESA applications open on Odyssey
Friday, May 1 - First round STO applications due
Tuesday, June 30 - ESA applications due
Saturday, August 1 - Second round STO applications due
School Tuition Organizations (STO’s) are charitable organizations that are funded by private donors. The funds are allocated to students attending accredited, nonpublic K-12 schools. The Archdiocese of Dubuque administers its STO program through Our Faith STO, and applications are confidentially reviewed by FACTS.
All Iowa families whose household taxable income is at or below 400% of the current Federal Poverty Guidelines are eligible; assistance amount varies each year based on available funds and number of applicants.
The Our Faith STO Board makes final decisions on qualifying income levels based on available funds and demonstrated need. Applications fully completed by the first round deadline often receive more funds than those submitted between the first and second round deadlines, so apply early! On average, over half of Notre Dame families receive some sort of STO assistance each school year.
Students First Education Savings Accounts (ESAs) are funded and administered by the State of Iowa. Funds may be used for tuition, fees, and other qualifying expenses at accredited nonpublic schools in Iowa. After paying tuition, remaining ESA funds can be saved for future tuition costs or used in the Odyssey marketplace.
All Iowa resident K-12 students are eligible for ESA, regardless of income. Each student receives the same amount of funds, varying each year based on signed legislation.
Local assistance is funded from Kucera Grants and generous area donors, when available, and is extended on a case-by-case basis. It may be able to offset tuition expenses that remain after STO and/or ESA support is applied. In order to be considered for additional local assistance, you must have applied for both ESA and STO. Please contact the school office for more information.
