40 Yards for a cause

Starting in 2021, during the Fall, the Mobsters hold 40 Yards for a Cause on South Quad before a home game day. Established now as one of the premier signature events on campus, students and families walk by and run timed 40-yard dashes, competing with friends and family. Money made from shirt and food sales supports the South Bend Center for the Homeless.

Miss ND

Every year, the Mobsters put on a show to determine who will represent Notre Dame as Miss ND. One member from each female dorm on campus can enter into the competition. The competition involves two main portions- The first is the talent portion and the second is the question/answer portion. In between segments, O'Neill residents perform music, act in skits, do magic tricks, among other fun things to keep the crowd entertained. All proceeds raised go toward our main community service partner, the South Bend Center for the Homeless.

West Fest

An annual tradition among West Quad dorms, West Fest occurs in the beginning of every fall semester. There is music, lawn games, grilling, dunk tanks, and more activities for everyone on the Reckers Lawn and McGlinn Fields. It is a great way to open the school year for everyone on the BEST quad on campus!

O'Week

This is our annual spirit week which takes place leading up to our first casual dance, the SYR. Every night includes various activities and competitions throughout the dorm, including hallway putt-putt, poker night, Family Feud, and the famous Spank(y) O'lympics.

Dances

Each year, residence halls at Notre Dame put on at least two dances- SYR and Formal. Traditionally held in the fall in O'Neill, SYR is a casual themed dance where everyone is encouraged to bring a date. Our past themes have ranged from Noahs Ark, to Steve Jobs, and the Polar Express/Christmas. Previous locations have been Corbett Hall Ballroom and Legends.

Our Formal dance is traditionally held in the Spring and is often held in Dahnke Ballroom in Duncan Student Center.
