A comparison of baseball uniforms from the MLB and the movie A League of Their Own. When sliding into dirt, pants are obviously more practical. However, the women in the women's baseball league were forced to wear skirts as their uniforms to get a larger fanbase.

A more modern comparison between men's and women's lacrosse uniforms. Once again, women play in skirts. Another key uniform difference is that the men play with pads and helmets while the women do not. This is because they are not allowed as much contact as the men (rule differences is another entire issue!).
