They will learn about three point studio lighting, use of the greenscreen and the best clothing to wear to properly key out the background. On the school’s broadcast equipment they will learn how to use and animate titles and graphics, run the show bumpers, and transition between clips and images. They will also learn how to adjust and set audio levels. Students will record the program to place it on the school website.
STEM:
The STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Academy is a collaboration between teachers, students, and the community which provides enrichment opportunities to students both in and out of the classroom. STEM students are interested in solving problems, designing new things, and working with science, math, and technology. Some STEM students want to be teachers, engineers, doctors, nurses, computer programmers, physical therapists, or technicians. Many want to work in construction, weld, operate equipment or simply "figure out how things work." The STEM Academy offers opportunities for students to learn and discover and encourages and emphasizes the importance of math, science, and North Country Career Center classes. Students in the STEM academy will be part of a small learning community with other students with similar interests and goals, attend meetings with guest speakers from a wide range of industries, participate in STEM challenges, take part in field trips, and have opportunities to explore career planning and goal setting.
Meetings occur an average of once per month. Students interested in joining the STEM Academy should visit the guidance office, the NCUHS website, or e-mail Katherine.gray@ncsuvt.org or Hazen.converse@ncsuvt.org
