Wenye Wang (王文野), Professor, IEEE Fellow
Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering,
NC State University
Wenye Wang received her Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, from Georgia Institute of Technology (GaTech), with Dr. Ian F. Akyildiz (2002). She joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, NC State University, as an assistant professor and has been an associate professor since Fall 2008, and a full professor since Fall 2014. Her research interests include modeling and performance of wireless networking, spectrum sensing, prediction, and management, and their applications to Smart Grid and Internet of Things (IoT) systems. Dr. Wang received NSF CAREER Award in 2006. She is an ACM member and an IEEE Fellow of 2017 class.
Office hours: Tuesdays 5:00 - 6:00pm in Spring 2025 and Fall 2025. Zoom meetings can be scheduled via emails or whatsapp (919-602-0965) by introducing your class (e.g., ECE 586, CSC/ECE 591-IoT, CSC 575 or ECE 407,) and name to start the conversation.
Research: The Networking of Wireless Information Systems (NetWiS) laboratory led by Dr. Wenye Wang is focused on in-depth understanding, modeling, and performance evaluation of fundamental problems in mobile and wireless systems, such as mobility and spectrum management, with broad applications to the Internet of Things (IoT) systems. Our lab members include undergraduate students who gain experience in research and prepare for their graduate study, and graduate students who aim to make novel contributions to the wireless networking area. Currently, we are interested in spectrum monitoring and management in multi-RAT (radio access technology), as well as commodity (5G/WiFi bands) RF sensing for a variety of IoT applications.
