IT Community awards

The inaugural NC State IT Community Awards aim to recognize teams and individuals that have made a significant collaborative impact within the IT Community.

Nominees and recipients in four categories will be recognized at the IT Community Event on Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2019:

    • Extraordinary Project Team Impact Award
    • Extraordinary Team Service Impact Award
    • Team Player Award
    • Rising Star Award

To submit your nomination, please complete the 2019 IT Community Awards Nomination Form and share the document with ITCommunity@ncsu.edu. The deadline for submissions is Wednesday, Oct. 23.

Extraordinary Project Team Impact Award

Description of Award:

The Extraordinary Project Team Impact Award recognizes a team that has facilitated, promoted or advanced one or more of our institutional goals through its collaborative efforts working on a project with broad impact. Particular consideration will be given to cross-unit work groups.

Criteria for Award:

The criteria for selection will focus upon a successful project that supports at least one of the university goals and provides a valuable enhancement for the university or a sub-segment of the university. Initially, this award will be given for projects that have had significant accomplishments some time during the past two fiscal years.

Nominations should include:

  • The team members and their contact information.
  • A description of the project and the project’s accomplishment(s).
  • The problem to be solved and actions taken to solve it.
  • Who benefited from the project.
  • The university goal it helped the university toward fulfilling.

Extraordinary Team Service Impact Award

Description of Award:

The Extraordinary Team Service Impact Award recognizes a team that has functioned exceptionally well and collaborated within and across organizational structures in fulfillment of its operational responsibilities.

Criteria for Award:

The criteria for selection will focus on exemplary IT operational support as shown through examples of service improvements, innovation or problem solving that were achieved through teamwork and collaboration. Initially, this award will be given for service achievements that have been realized during the past two fiscal years.

Nominations should include:

  • The team members and their contact information.
  • A description of the exemplary service provided by the team.
  • Any specific accomplishments and their impact.

Team Player Award

Description of Award:

The Team Player Award recognizes a person who has taken the initiative to foster collaboration, communication and cooperation with units or individuals outside their department. This individual has performed at a level above and beyond in bringing the campus community together, while also furthering the department’s or university’s goals and mission.

Criteria for Award:

The criteria for selection will focus upon outstanding collaborative and cooperative actions that support at least one of the university goals and that have provided a valuable improvement.

Nominations should include:

  • Nominee's contact information.
  • A description of the nominee’s actions.
  • The problem to be solved and how the nominee’s actions solved the problem.
  • Who benefited from the nominee's actions.
  • Which of the university goals the actions supported.


Rising Star Award

Description of Award:

The Rising Star Award recognizes a new employee (employed 3 years or less at the university, as of July 2016) who has made significant contributions to his or her area or to the university community in a collaborative way. This individual has innovative ideas, has made significant contributions, and has volunteered to assist when and where needed. This individual will have a demonstrated record of improvement, progressed through cooperation and initiative, and be a self-starter with a take-charge attitude.

Criteria for Award:

The criteria for selection will focus upon successful collaborative, cooperative or innovative contributions of a newer IT professional that has provided a significant contribution to the university.

Nominations should include:

  • The nominee's contact information.
  • A description of the contributions the nominee has made.
  • The impact of these contributions.
