Our lab is interested in structures, biosynthesis and metabolic engineering of plant natural products. We are particularly focusing on plant natural products with high medicinal and nutritional benefits and biofuel values. Meanwhile, we are interested in Metabolic Biology of Plant Natural Products. We are using an integrated approach including phytochemistry, metabolomics, functional genomics and biochemistry to understand plant, tissue, and cell specificity of biosynthesis of plant natural products. Current researches include proanthocyanidins, anthocyanins, sesquiterpenoids and volatiles. We are using model systems to understand molecular, biochemical, and structural mechanisms of these natural products and then apply our discoveries for development of metabolic engineering.
