CRECER (Cultivating Research Experiences with Community-Engaged Roots) is a program that brings Latine students from Lee and Chatham counties to spend a week at NC State, staying in the dorms, learning lab skills, participating in real research with NC State science faculty, and interacting with NC State students. We will practice our academic Spanish together, as we learn how to talk about our research in both English and Spanish (no existing Spanish fluency required!).
This program is free -- there is no charge for staying in the dorms, and all food is provided. Additionally, you'll receive a $500 stipend for your participation. There will be opportunities throughout the school year to continue working on your research and gaining skills and experience that will help you in your college applications through participation in a CRECER 4-H Community Club back at home -- and you'll get a stipend for school year participation, too.
Confirmation of your intent to participate is requested by Friday June 30. Please complete this form by this date to secure your spot. The residential (overnight) research experience at NC State will run from Sunday, July 9, through Saturday, July 15.
We work closely with the NC State University Science House and local 4-H partners in Lee and Chatham County.
