A simple, snail mail letter. Nowadays the letters we send and receive have little meaning. - Happy birthday! Get well soon. However, back in the day, a letter meant your loved one was still alive. That he or she was surviving if nothing more. Or, a letter meant the start of the mourning process. A condolence.
