NCMEA Orchestra
At long last, the 2020 North Carolina All-State Honors Orchestra video is here! We want to give a BIG thanks to Brian Balmages, composer, for creating this work on short notice and Nathaniel Yaffe, cellist and recording engineer with the North Carolina Symphony who put all of these videos together. It’s been a LOT of work to put together and we am so incredibly proud of all of our students.
The opening remarks celebrate our Regional Teachers of the Year as well as our Lifetime Achievement/Hall of Fame Recipients. Following the opening, we celebrate our student scholarship winners before Mr. Balmages introduces the world premiere of "The Fire Within."
Mission
The North Carolina Orchestra Section features a group of highly dedicated music educators. The Orchestra Section of NCMEA is comprised of the Eastern and Western Regions. Each region hosts a number of events that greatly enhance the musical education of the students of North Carolina. These events include Regional Honors Orchestras, Solo and Ensemble Festivals, and Music Performance Adjudication (formerly known as Contest/Festival). This website is intended as an important resource for the instrumental directors of North Carolina. Students and parents should consult with their respective directors for information regarding the various requirements and events.
