Well, we made it! It’s the final Monday of the entire school year, which means these are the last Monday Morning Messages too! In this bittersweet edition, Mr. Long says his heartfelt good-byes after four fabulous years as principal of Scouters Mountain and previews an exciting week ahead that includes Field Day, a schoolwide barbecue for lunch, and lots of memorable activities happening on the last day of school Thursday. We also make sure to recognize our summer birthdays, and some of our students share special memories of our two retiring staff members, Mrs. Bell and Mrs. Smith. This will be a school year that we won’t soon forget…so enjoy the last week and always know that we LOVE our Coyotes!
Hard to believe it’s the final FULL week of school, so here are the second-to-last Monday Morning Messages of the year! This week, Mr. Long previews the exciting final two weeks, which include Field Day, a special lunch barbecue, and the 5th Grade “Clap Out” to middle school! We also review what some kids think Mr. Potter should know when he takes over as principal next year. We also show off lots of TAG photos of kids who have found our special TAG signs in their yards the past couple of weeks. Finally, our Joke Of The Week will leave you SIRIUS-ly laughing! Let’s finish the year strong Coyotes!
Thanks to a long holiday weekend, it’s the first time ever the Monday Morning Messages come to you…on a Wednesday! Although it’s a short week, Mr. Long still previews lots of fun activities taking place in the next three days, including a special family barbecue taking place this Friday evening right here at school! Who knew our principal actually knows how to barbecue? Mr. Long also challenges students to write a letter to next year’s principal about what he should know about Scouters Mountain before he arrives this summer. Plus, we guarantee you’ll find this week’s Joke Of The Week eggs-tremely funny! Have a wonderful rest of the week Coyotes!
Did you know Mr. Long is a huge Taylor Swift fan, and he can’t seem to Shake It Off? He got so excited that our school is no longer a Blank Space, he had another Look-What-You-Made-Me-Do moment! Check out this latest video, which is a Love Story to the Scouters Mountain community about how, thanks to hybrid learning…We’re Getting Back Together!
Who knew Mr. Long was part of a boy band in the early 90s? 🎤Here’s Curtis, Kurtis, Curtice, Kurtez, and Curt…otherwise known as New Kids On Mr. Long🎤. With lots of Scouters Mountain kids as backup dancers, this 90s boy band will get you ready for Distance Learning…Step By Step!🕺🏻🕺🏻🕺🏻
Especially during Volunteer Appreciation Week, we want to sing the praises of all our volunteers at Scouters Mountain! Unfortunately, so does our principal. Was Mr. Long really part of the 90s pop group Wilson Phillips? Uh, no…but we give him credit for trying, just like he always encourages SME students to try something out of their comfort zone! Hold On and enjoy our tribute to Scouters Mountain’s amazing volunteers!
Today is officially Day 120 of kindergarten! Unfortunately, our friend Zero The Hero didn’t know our wonderful kindergarten students weren’t at school. What happens when he can’t find any Scouters Mountain students? As you can see, he doesn’t take it very well…☹️
What does Lunar New Year mean to many of our Scouters Mountain students and families? Find out in this special episode of the Morning Messages now available on the school website. Mr. Long shares background information he’s learned from our Coyote students and families, and then we see this special holiday come to life firsthand through student- and family-submitted photos, slides, and videos. We’re so thankful for the diverse cultural heritage our students are able to share with each other. Happy Lunar New Year!
Happy Holidays Scouters Mountain Families! Just like the video says…even after months and months of Distance Learning, if there’s anybody we want to take along on this adventure, you’re STILL THE ONE! Enjoy Winter Break, and we can’t wait to see each one of you back in 2021!
Love, The Scouters Mountain Staff
It's Staff Appreciation Week, and the Scouters Mountain staff knows how lucky we are to be surrounded by a FULL HOUSE of loving students and families. Did you know Mr. Long once auditioned for the role of Danny Tanner? Check out the video below, which also shows mystery Scouters staff members when they were as young as DJ, Stephanie, and Michelle! How many can you name? Fill out an answer sheet to the right and send it to Mr. Long! Does Scouters have the greatest staff? As Michelle would say, “You got it dude!” 👍
To the entire Scouters Mountain community, thanks for proving how lucky we are to be surrounded by a FULL HOUSE of loving students and families during Staff Appreciation Week. Congratulations to the Snodgrass family, who correctly named 23 of the 33 staff members in Monday’s Staff Appreciation video. As Uncle Jesse would say, “Have mercy!” 🕶 How many staff members did you recognize? Here’s Danny Tanner, er…Mr. Long again, but this time all the staff member names are included 🎼everywhere you look🎼 in the video! Enjoy!
