This summer course is designed to enrich the academic English skills of ESL students currently enrolled in ESL III, ESL IV, or Honors ESL Literacy at the New Brunswick High School. Students will focus on becoming stronger readers and writers following a workshop model that includes systematic instruction in academic vocabulary and language, close reading, and academic writing and research. Students will also strengthen their listening and speaking skills as they actively participate in the small-group sessions. A special emphasis will be placed on the acquisition of academic vocabulary. At the end of the course, students will take the WIDA Model (Measure of Developing the English Language) to measure English Proficiency growth.
Dates: *July 19th - August 13th
Times: Monday - Friday from 7:45 AM - 2:00 PM (Levels 1- 4)

Curso de Avance de HS: Enriquecimiento de Inglés de ESL
Este curso de verano está diseñado para enriquecer las habilidades académicas de inglés de los estudiantes de ESL actualmente inscritos en ESL III, ESL IV o Alfabetización de ESL con honores en New Brunswick High School. Los estudiantes se enfocarán en convertirse en lectores y escritores más fuertes siguiendo un modelo de taller que incluye instrucción sistemática en vocabulario y lenguaje académico, lectura detallada y escritura e investigación académicas. Los estudiantes también fortalecerán sus habilidades para escuchar y hablar mientras participan activamente en las sesiones de grupos pequeños. Se pondrá especial énfasis en la adquisición de vocabulario académico. Al final del curso, los estudiantes tomarán el modelo WIDA (Medida de desarrollo del idioma inglés) para medir el crecimiento en el dominio del inglés.
