Problem of Practice: How can students improve in the area of handwriting?

The students need to improve letter formation, letter spacing, and letter size in relation to other letters. Although this is something we have worked on in traditional ways, the focus students continue to need further intervention in this area. I would like to investigate if student handwriting will improve if a technology component is used as part of our practice to increase student engagement. I will be using student handwriting samples taken at certain intervals to measure their improvement in the three areas (formation, spacing, and size in relation to other letters). This action research project is utilizing the software program Writing Wizard to improve students’ letter formation. The students will be using ipads.
