English Language Education (ELE) Program
The Nauset English Language Education (ELE) program supports emergent bilingual students as they learn social and academic English. Nauset has a growing population of English Learners (ELs) and we feel very fortunate to have students from all over the world in our schools.
Our licensed ESL teachers provide EL students with the necessary support to achieve language proficiency and success within and beyond the school walls. Through a combination of in-class and pull-out support, our students develop academic language in all four language domains listening, speaking, reading and writing.
The ESL team works together with classroom/content teachers to develop Sheltered English Instruction (SEI) lessons that promote content and language development. SEI instruction includes approaches, strategies, and methodologies that make the content of the lesson more comprehensible to students who are not yet proficient in English.
Our program also aims to provide parents with the information they need from school in their language. We offer interpreters for school meetings and many of our ESL teachers are also bilingual.
