Creating Replicas and Scans of Animal Teeth from around the World; Linguistic and Cultural Analysis of Spain

Abstract: 

During my IGP internship, I worked in the biotechnology department with an anthropology professor, Alejandro Romero Rameta, at the University of Alicante. I helped make replicas of animal tooth molds that were sent to the university by museums from around the world. I used resin and epoxy glue to create replicas of seal, fox, and hyena teeth. After making the replicas, I carried out 3D scans to digitize each sample from different species. I completed three boxes of tooth molds and designed an easier way to access the computer system for future research. While working in Spain, I learned the cultural and linguistic norms of the country. Living in a different place gave me both social and academic challenges.

Creación de réplicas y escaneos de dientes de animales de todo el mundo; análisis lingüístico y cultural de España

Abstract (Global Language): 

Durante mi pasantía de IGP, trabajé en el departamento de biotecnología con un profesor, Alejandro Romero Rameta, de antropología, en la Universidad de Alicante. Ayudé a hacer réplicas de moldes de dientes de animales que llegaban a la Universidad por museos de todo el mundo. Utilicé una resina y un pegamento epoxy para hacer réplicas de las focas, los zorros y las hienas. Después de construir las réplicas, hice escaneos para hacer escaneos 3D para digitalizar cada réplica de animales de diferentes especies. Terminé tres cajas de moldes de dientes e inventé una manera fácil de acceder al sistema de la computadora para investigación en el futuro. Mientras trabajaba en España, aprendí las normas culturales y lingüísticas del país de España. Vivir en un país diferente crea retos sociales y académicos.
