Elevator Pitch Video Transcript:
大家好, Hi guys, my name is Abby Shitara, and I am a Level 5 student in the IGP program.
So for introductions, my majors are Finance and Comparative Culture Studies with an emphasis in Asian Studies. My minors are Chinese, and I also have a certificate in international business as well.
The country I went abroad was Taiwan. It was called Zhongli District in Taoyuan City. The university I attended was called National Central University. Also known as 中央大学. At the university, I mostly focus on taking Chinese classes as well as culture classes.
My internship was at a company called Hua-Jie Corporation. My role during my internship was an international sales manager's assistant. The goal of the internship was to immerse into Taiwanese work culture and to develop international business skills. There were multiple assignments and projects that were assigned to me during the experience but the main project that I was assigned was a research topic on U.S. market. The objective of this research was to do a focus on researching each state in the U.S. to find their distinct local business specialization and to see potential for Taiwanese import especially from Hua-Jie.The research ended with a report to my CEO of the company, my mentor, and other employees from the company as well.
Lastly, these are some photos I took while I was abroad.I met new people, so many new people while I was abroad, and made a bunch of new friends from all over the world. I was also able to travel domestically in Taiwan, as well as other countries surrounding Taiwan as well. During my study abroad experience, I was able to exchange cultures, and to experience new culture in Taiwan as well.
This was possible because of all the people I met while I was abroad. Everyone has different perspectives on everything, and it was very interesting to learn their perspective, as well as experiencing new stuff with them as well.
From this experience, I gain a new perspective of traveling and experiencing new things at different countries. In the future, I would definitely love to go to different countries to travel more, and to meet new people, as well as going back to Taiwan, and seeing the people I met there, as well as gaining more knowledge about the culture. It was a very fun year to learn all about these new things, and to meet all these people. I still keep contact with the friends I made abroad, and I would love to also visit them in their host countries as well. Thank you.
