Assessing the effect of heating rate on plants and Linguistic and Cultural Aspects of Concepción, Chile

Abstract:

Within studies regarding thermal tolerance in plants, there is not very much information pertaining to the resistance to heat. For this reason, there is also not a standard rate of heating used to evaluate the effect of heat on plants. The objective of my internship was to determine what heating rate is best for laboratory use. The experiment was performed using lettuce heated at different heating rates to see if the rate had an impact on the plant’s ability to withstand heat. In relation to language acquisition, this report includes a linguistic analysis regarding the Chilean dialect of Spanish. It will examine linguistic phenomenons such as phonology, morphology, and syntax. For example, the Chilean accent has an aspiration of <s> at the end of a syllable and word as well as <d> in the intervocalic position. In addition to language acquisition, the time I spent in Concepción helped with my cultural and global competence.

El Efecto de la Tasa de Calentamiento a las Plantas y Aspectos Lingüísticos y Culturales de Concepción, Chile

Abstract (Global Language):

Entre los estudios realizados sobre la resistencia térmica en las plantas, no hay mucha información con respecto a la resistencia al calor. Es por esto que tampoco existe una tasa de calentamiento universal para evaluar el efecto que tiene el calor en las plantas. El objetivo durante mi pasantía fue determinar cuál tasa de calentamiento sería la mejor para usar en los laboratorios. El experimento se realizó usando lechugas, éstas se calentaron a temperaturas distintas usando diferentes tasas para ver si la tasa tiene un efecto en la resistencia de las plantas al calor. Con relación a la adquisición lingüística, este informe incluye un análisis lingüístico sobre el dialecto chileno. También, examino los fenómenos lingüísticos como la fonología, la morfología, y la sintaxis. Por ejemplo, el acento chileno tiene la aspiración de <s> en posición final de sílaba y palabra y <d> en posición intervocálica. Además de la adquisición lingüística, el tiempo que estuve en Concepción ayudó con mi propia competencia cultural y global.
