Title of Work:
Analysis Assistant Regarding Open Source Software Data
Abstract:
For the internship, I was working at the Kyushu University Principles of Software Engineering Laboratory and as a proxy by my professors, a partnered company that I had not been disclosed or have the opportunity to introduce. Within the internship, I was tasked to analyze data retrieved off of Github, a platform that contains many programming projects, both private and public, and collaborations for Open Source Software Development. This task for Kyushu's partnered company resulted in two goals; One being to identify and understand the roles and activity that existed on the Open Source Software development , and the second being to show the company if there were any security concerns as Open Source Software is accessible to many anonymous people. To properly analyze these results, there was a range of tools that were used to organize, break apart, tokenize and assign categories and traits to the data. After the initial goal were met through the use of the Phrase matching and Decision Trees, I was tasked with an extra objective which was to find the triage, a way to prioritize a certain object based on certain conditions such as urgency, complication, risk, etc. I had only found a piece of the triage which was the urgency the observers would assist on before the internship had ended. I am not allowed to discuss the results/findings as I am under an NDA but through this internship, I had learned a lot about data analysis which could easily be seen translating the skills into the work force outside of University.
