Multicultural and Linguistic Competency in Cross-Cultural Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Abstract:

My internship is about psychological therapy under the supervision of Master Alejandra López. I practiced cognitive behavioral therapy accompanied by the cultural analysis of interpersonal dynamics in therapy in Mexico and changes in the diagnostic process according to "Latino Families in Therapy" (2015). The objective of the internship is the acquisition of language skills and cultural understanding to treat individuals served by the psychological service of UNAM. The linguistic application requires understanding the appropriate register and the terms and expressions of psychology in Mexico. The internship consists of 3 parts: (1) training for therapy and teaching; (2) individual and family therapy; and (3) organization and teaching of workshops. The internship resulted in my learning Mexican jargon, formal register appropriate to professional interaction, and understanding Mexican customs to carry out health services.

Competencia Lingüística y Multicultural en la Terapia Cognitiva y Conductual (TCC) Transcultural

Abstract (IGP Language):

Mi pasantía trata sobre la terapia psicológica bajo la supervisión de la Maestra Alejandra López. Practiqué la terapia cognitiva conductual acompañada por el análisis cultural de la dinámica interpersonal en la terapia en México y de cambios del proceso diagnóstico según Latino Families in Therapy (2015). El objetivo de la pasantía consiste en la adquisición lingüística y el entendimiento cultural para tratar a las personas atendidas por el servicio psicológico de la UNAM. La aplicación lingüística requiere el entendimiento del registro adecuado y los términos y expresiones de la psicología en México. La pasantía consiste de 3 partes: (1) la capacitación para la terapia y la enseñanza; (2) la terapia individual y familiar; y (3) la organización y enseñanza de talleres. La pasantía resultó en mi aprendizaje de la jerga mexicana, el registro formal y el entendimiento de las costumbres mexicanas para llevar a cabo servicios de la salud.
