School News
Friday 3rd May 2024
We look forward to seeing all of the children back on Tuesday.
If you have visited the school over the past week, you may well have noticed the fantastic new hedging along the front playground called a Green Screen.
Following a consultation, Nash Mills was chosen as a pilot school for a project looking into the impact of being located on a main road and the noise and air pollution that this creates. Not only does the Green Screen provide a much nicer look to the front of the school, but it is also hoped that it will improve the air quality within the school and reduce noise from the road. Data is currently being collected and we hope to see some positive results in the coming weeks.
We are incredibly grateful that this project has been conducted and funded by Dacorum Borough Council's Climate Action team. This morning, members of the council, including local councillors came to visit to see the installation for themselves.
On Tuesday we were joined by Sam, a Hertfordshire County Cricket coach who ran workshops for all year groups as part of the "chance to shine" cricket programme. It was a brilliant day filled with lots of activities based around the game.
It was fun and Sam was really good. I really liked hitting off the tees - Noah Y5
Mrs Lewis
The gardening club have been working hard to get the anniversary garden ready for a new season of flowers and plants and we need your help! If you have any cuttings, seeds or plants you are willing to donate, we'd be very grateful so that we can make it as colourful and wildlife-friendly as possible.
If you can donate please bring items to the school office and I will collect them.
Thank you.
Mrs Lewis and my green fingered gardening club!
This week's leader board reflects those who are putting in the most time each week. One of the best ways to improve our times table knowledge is to keep rehearsing them until we improve our fluency. Year 3 are clearly putting in the effort; 6 of the current top 10 are year 3 pupils!
But what is really nice to see is that there are now a few of our Year 2 pupils appearing on various leader boards, special mention to Segun and Emine!
Well done to our top 3 Rock Stars this week!

We are now a few weeks into thinking about our latest Ubuntu value, selflessness. This year, we have looked or will be looking at:
Friendliness, Faithfulness, Kindness, Bravery, Selflessness, Honesty
What do you think these qualities look like in a person?
Which of these qualities do you look for in a friend?
Which qualities would people use to describe you?
