The NASD Art Department ran our first Empty Bowls Event back in 2018, & has been working to grow our impact in our community ever since. With some setbacks during 2020, we've come back stronger than ever with our Scoops & Soups event, featuring soups and ice cream donated by local businesses & individuals. Our event features artwork, live music, and activities all provided by students and staff throughout our entire district. Interdisciplinary work is done to create everything from placemats & decorations, to the bowls that are the stars of the event.
This event is a community meal that focuses on using art to create an impact on food insecurity in our community. With your donation for entrance, your ticket includes your choice of a beautiful hand-crafted bowl to take with you as a reminder that there are still other bowls that need to be filled. Soup, bread, ice cream, and time to relax with friends and family are complimentary.
We have raised thousands of dollars for local food pantries through our events, and are hoping to continue to show how powerful art can be in uniting communities in helping others.
