Anchor Initiation Week

Being a straight A student takes hard work, dedication, and commitment. Anchor Club gives students the opportunity to be recognized for their academic success while also getting involved in their school and community.
Anchor Club is about more than just good grades. It is also about service, responsibility, school spirit, friendship, and making memories. One tradition that makes Anchor unique is when the second- and third-year members, known as the “Bigs,” get to dress up the newcomers, known as the “Littles.” This gives older members a fun way to welcome new students into the club.
Service is another important part of Anchor Club. Members are expected to complete 20 service hours for every year they are in the club. These hours allow students to volunteer, help others, and become more involved in their community.
For seniors, there is an additional goal. To receive an Anchor cord at graduation, members must complete a total of 60 service hours. The cord represents the time and effort students have put into serving their community throughout their years in Anchor.
Anchor Club also gives students opportunities to have fun, including its annual surprise trips. Members are told that they are going somewhere and are given a list of items they need to bring, but the destination remains a secret. They do not find out where they are going until they arrive, making the trip an exciting experience for everyone.
Overall, Anchor Club is about more than grades. It is about hard work, friendship, service, school spirit, and making lasting memories.
