For the Nardin Winter Experience, I got to experience being a student teacher, and was able to see what it was like being a teacher at Nardin Elementary. Planning activities and activities for lessons was something I got to participate in as well. I was able to plan out an art craft, and teach the students how to create it. I also was able to help students with anything they needed and play games with them.
It was a great experience to see how much work and effort teachers put in to make school a great experience for all students. Seeing the time it takes to prepare lessons and material allowed me to experience the challenges and rewards of being a teacher. Teachers put in a tremendous amount of effort to help students and make learning easier. Furthermore, I got to see how the students interacted with each other. Alternating between 1st and 2nd grade classrooms, I was able to identify the differences between the learning environment and developmental stages of the students. Getting to know them, I experienced the fun times of elementary school for a second time. Some of my favorite activities were getting to teach the students how to make the crafts we made, playing with them during recess, and getting to draw with them. I also loved getting cards and drawing from the kids. I loved having this experience and spending time with students and teachers.
