Team bonding is arguably the strongest asset to a great team. A strong bond within your team can develop confidence, boost morale, and increase collaboration between players. Without a well built bond, a team may drift apart and as a result, will not play well.
Lacking a bond within your team and between players can create misunderstandings and mess ups in the game–not necessarily due to a lack of skill, but due to a lack of communication. It can take away the fun in playing the game the players enjoy.
Additionally, many things players say due to frustration towards another teammate can impact the team as a whole; this can be during practice or even during a game. Once a teammate hears hurtful or harsh words, they may begin to play poorly. They may become doubtful of their own skills. This can lead to an even greater distance between the team, and eventually cause multiple game losses. Some players may even begin to lose the love they have for the sport because of their team environment.
Therefore, playing on a team with a close bond creates a safe, comfortable atmosphere that will allow the team to generally play better or at least communicate effectively. According to multiple articles in Forbes, the global media company, building bonds among teammates boosts trust within the team and increases collaboration. If a player is struggling during a game and they know their team is supporting them, they will have that extra boost of confidence while playing. Supporting teammates allows players to have healthier mindsets and a strong team bond.
