On Monday, February 17th, members of the Nardin Crew Team flew down to Sarasota, Florida for their annual training trip. We officially started to train on Tuesday the 18th, twice a day every day, and we also raced in the Sarasota Invitational on Saturday the 22nd.
Throughout the duration of the trip, we rowed in 8’s, coxed 4’s, coxless 4’s, and pairs. Most mornings we would usually have practice from 8-about 11. After morning practice everyday we would go back to the hotel so we could have lunch and relax before afternoon practice. Most afternoons we would have practice from about 2:30-5. After afternoon practice we would either go out for dinner or order in. We ate at places like The Cheesecake Factory and Rocco’s Tacos, and Ford’s Garage and got frozen yogurt for dessert! We also had some dinners at the hotel.
On Saturday, we raced in the Girls HS JV 4+ twice, Womens HS 2-, Girls HS Varsity 4+ twice, Girls HS JV 8+, and the Girls HS Varsity 8+. The Girls HS JV 4+ got 3rd and 6th place. The Women's HS 2- got 3rd place. The Girls HS Varsity 4+ got 2nd and 3rd place. The Girls HS JV 8+ got 3rd, and the Girls HS Varsity 8+ placed 4th.
On Sunday we had to head home after a fun week of rowing in Florida. In previous years this trip would take place during spring break, not February break, but we were glad to get a break from the Buffalo snow earlier this year!
