Ever wonder how our sports teams are doing? Here is a quick recap of their seasons!
Varsity and JV Volleyball have been strong this season, with Varsity going 5-5-0, and JV going 7-3-0 so far. Varsity just beat Nichols on Wednesday, October 23rd, with a final score of 3-0 at home on senior night! Varsity played in semi-finals are on Monday, October 28th, against St. Mary's of Lancaster, but unfortunately did not advance to finals. JV played their last game on Friday, October 25th against Mount at home!
The soccer team went 2-7-1 this season. Special shout out to seniors Carolyn Manning, Gwyn Farhbach, and Ke’Arrah Johnson! Early in September they had a huge win in Albany, winning 2-1 with goals from Rory Kingsley ‘26, Siena Den Haese ‘28, and Ava Miller ‘28 had an assist on both of those goals!
Tennis went undefeated this season with a record of 10-0! Julia Knodel ‘26 and Kate Blackwell ‘26 won the MMHSAA Doubles All-Catholic Championship. Not only did they win the Doubles All-Catholic Championship, but they won the league title as well!
Swimming also had a good season, going 2-6-0. The team has had some incredible accomplishments this season, including two from Kate Stancliff ‘28. Kate qualified for the NYS Federation Swimming & Diving Championships at the Iroquois Diving Invite, coming in 3rd in the 1 meter dive. Additionally, she qualified for the state championships in the 100 yard backstroke. The team also competed in the MMHSAA All-Catholic Championships on Friday, October 25th.
Field Hockey went 3-6 in their season. They won 4-0 against Kenmore on their senior night. Addison Cherry ‘26 and Greta Golembiewski ‘25 scored a goal each, and Teagan Edwards ‘25 scored two! The shutout was led by goalie PJ Phelan ‘25!
Golf had an outstanding season going 7-1. Not only did they have a good record, but they were also league champions and All-Catholic champions! Olivia Braun ‘25 was the individual Champion at the All-Catholic Team Championship. Honorable mentions went to Hanna Adymy ‘27 and Natalia Pane ‘26 for their performance at the MMHSAA Championships. Hanna and Olivia both qualified for the NYS Catholic State Championships which takes place in the spring.
Rowing also had a successful season, bringing home many top finishes at their regattas! At the Head of the Cuyahoga in Cleveland, OH, the Youth 4+ came in 3rd and the Youth 8+ came in 5th. On top of that, the Youth Lightweight 4+, with Georgia Lambros’ 26, Leah Lyons ‘26, Micca Smith ‘27, Eleanor Habib ‘27, and cox Elise McCarthy ‘26, came in 1st! At the Head of the Welland in Welland, ON, the U17 8+ came in 2nd, and the U17 Lightweight 4+ came in 2nd place. Also, the U17 4+ came in 3rd, 6th and 9th! At the Head of the Niagara in Buffalo, NY, the entire team had amazing results! The Youth 2 of Sophia Kovachik ‘25 and Lucy Lyons ‘25 came 1st. The Youth 1V 4+ came in 2nd place and the freshman/novice 4+ came in 5th. The Youth lightweight 8+, 1V 8+ and 2V 8+ all came 1st, while the Youth 2V 4+ placed 3rd. Their season ended strong with a competitive showing at the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta in Philadelphia!
Cross Country had a great season so far, going 1-2. They had a great win against Sem! Anna Wurst ‘26 placed first in every league meet this season. The girls train every day after school and focus on pacing and getting stronger. All Catholics, a meet against all the catholic schools, including Cardinal O’Hara and Sacred Heart, was another big success, with Anna Wurst coming in first place! The team has had some outstanding results at their meet against Nichols, and at the Alden Invite with 3 PR’s!
