"Your skirt is too short!" "Those are not dress pants!" "No hoodies allowed!"
These warnings are heard by Nardin students on a daily basis when they violate the Nardin dress code. Students tend to forget what they cannot wear in school; as a result, they get demerits whenever they break the code. However, there are still ways to be fashionable without breaking any rules.
Nardin has a strict dress code to show the public how the students are polished. Thus, it prevents students from wearing any clothing that seems unprofessional. This includes any material of clothing that is tattered or showing any message relating to violence. According to the dress code, clothing items that are considered “inappropriate” include: sweatpants, pajama pants, jeggings, tank tops, cropped tops, spaghetti straps, strapless shirts, off the shoulder shirts, and low V-necks. In addition, hats, windbreakers, winter coats, and bomber jackets are not allowed.
While this may seem burdensome, on the contrary, Nardin gives students an opportunity to be prepared for real-life, professional jobs, in which one might wear dressy tops like blouses or sweaters. Furthermore, students can wear skirts, leggings with a skirt, or dress pants. Even outerwear such as jean jackets and riding boots are allowed!
Many freshmen do not know where to shop in order to fit the dress code. They do not realize that there are places they can shop right around Nardin! On Elmwood Ave, there is the Half & Half Boutique, open 11am-6pm Tuesday-Saturday, and Anna Grace is open from 11am-6pm Wednsday-Saturday. Also, students can shop online to find a wider variety of clothes, for instance, on Amazon.
Ultimately, Nardin girls will sometimes forget or don’t even know the dress code. Nonetheless, there are plenty of places that sell cute clothing options to prevent getting dress-coded.
