Welcome to the NAMRIA Mojon Finder mobile app!
This mobile application is an initiative by the Mapping and Geodesy Branch of the National Mapping and Resource Information Authority (NAMRIA). The Geodetic Control Point (GCP) data is sourced from the Geodetic Network Information System (GNIS), NAMRIA’s internal database that handles survey records of GCPs. The app is designed to improve the recovery and safeguarding of GCPs. This free app allows users to easily locate GCPs and report on their condition directly from the field.
GEODETIC CONTROL POINT (GCP)
The network of GCP composed of ground monuments which contain one or two sets of information such as the horizontal, vertical, and gravity value of the point.
Horizontal Control Network
Defines the geometric position as the set of coordinates (latitude and longitude) for horizontal control points (HCPs). These monuments (~64, 000) have been set up all around the nation, with a minimum of two points in every barangay.
Vertical Control Network
Consists of Benchmarks (BMs) with elevation above the mean sea level measured using geodetic leveling. Nationwide, there are roughly 23,000 BMs established along the main roads.
Gravity Control Network
Gravity stations are established and measured as relative variations in gravity values. Around 9,000 gravity stations were measured in every province and municipality in the country.
HOW TO USE
Upon opening the app, you will see 3 main options:
Horizontal Control Points
Benchmarks
Gravity Points
Select which type of Geodetic Control Point (GCP) you are interested in locating.
Upon clicking any of the three options, you will be directed to another page to choose how you want to search for GCPs:
Search by Name
Search by Location
Choosing Search by Name redirects you to a page where you can search for GCPs using their corresponding name.
NOTE: GCPs are ordered alphabetically by default
Choosing Search by Location on the other hand allows you to filter GCPs by Region, Province, City/Municipality, and then by Barangay.
This is an example of the GCPs present in the barangay of Mabayo, Morong, Bataan using Search by Location.
Selecting a GCP either from Search by Name or Search by Location redirects you to the Station Details page, where you will be able to see the Station Name, Latitude and Longitude.
This page also has 3 options:
View Description
Navigate
Report Status
Selecting View Description shows the Monument Description Form for the previously selected GCP.
At the bottom of the page, there's an option to "Download Image." This feature allows you to have a backup copy of the description, which can be used in areas without an internet connection.
Selecting "Navigate," on the other hand, will display the location of the chosen GCP, allowing you to see how far you are from that point.
In the upper right corner of the page, there is an option to use Google Maps for real-time navigation. By selecting this option, directions and distance will update based on your current location (e.g., while driving). However, it's important to have Google Maps installed on your mobile phone.
Choosing "Report Status" enables you to send a comment to NAMRIA regarding the status of the GCP, with the ability to send one comment at a time.
In the Status field, you can specify if the GCP is: EXISTING (intact, in good condition, usable),
LOST (completely destroyed or uprooted),
DAMAGED (monument/putty smashed/unreadable but the monument is still existing; has the central mark or hole in it) or
OBSTRUCTED (intact and unscathed but was beside or inside a structure, beneath a large tree)
In the Comment section, you can note any new developments or landmarks in the area, or reasons for the monument's non-existence (such as road widening, area development, landslide, etc.).
Users are asked to provide their name in the Reported by section for documentation purposes.
The MOJON or GCP markers are prohibited from being destroyed, moved, or removed.
This should be TAKEN CARE OF and any damage or destruction should be reported to NAMRIA.
