Thousands thronged Naim Bintulu Paragon during the Bintulu Tang Lung Carnival 2018.

It was a festive moment for us all in Bintulu as thousands of visitors thronged Naim Bintulu Paragon to witness the grand display of fireworks that lit up the night sky on September 17 as Bintulu Tang Lung Carnival 2018 draw to a close.

The week long event which began on September 13, was organised by Naim in collaboration with The Federation of Registered Chinese Associations (FORCA) and Bintulu Development Authority (BDA).

Various interesting activities were lined up for the carnival from 13 till 17 September at the vibrant Naim Bintulu Paragon's Street Mall and piazza area. Among the activities held were Maju Sarawak Run, Bintulu Food Fair 2018, multi-racial cultural performance, Xiang Qi (Chinese Chess) tournament, superior dancing and singing performance, Borneo traditional lion dance competition, halal mooncake-making, folk dances, tanglung harmony ride, Night of FORCA, Zumba lantern-making competition, children’s talent contest, calligraphy competition, tea party, Bintulu showdance and a one-on-one all style battle.

The High Pole Lion Dance Championship was one of the highlights for the annual Bintulu Tang Lung Carnival 2018. Members of the Kuantan Builders Association Lion and Dragon Dance Club had impressed the judges with their stunning acrobatic performance and emerged as the winner of the championship. Beating five other teams, the team walked away with a trophy, medals and RM10,000 cash prize.

Naim’s Regional General Manager for Bintulu, Abang Mahathir Mohamed said the championship added much excitement to the Carnival as a whole.

“This is the first of such competition held in Sarawak. It was just electrifying to see teams from different parts of Malaysia executing fantastic and flawless performance on high poles,” he added.
