Health and Early Childhood

WHAT:

Middle school to High school students will attend a dual camp with Early Childhood development, Health Careers and Safe sitters. On day one of the Camp students will learn about different Health Careers with additional information provided in the areas of health eating, allergies, simple hands only CPR, and Safe Sleep. The goal is that at the end of day one students will be comfortable with preparing and serving safe meals, feel comfortable providing CPR in an emergency situation, and how to keep children safe during sleep. At the end of the session students will create a simple first aid kit that will be utilized during day 2 of the camp. 


During the second day of the camp session, students will be learning about child development as it relates to the 4 core components to a child’s development (cognitive, social, emotional, and physical). Once reviewed, campers will be able to describe and plan activities they can utilize with a variety of aged children. Campers will then be able to create babysitting kits to support them in their babysitting adventures.



On the third day of the camp student will be trained by SAFE sitter in the following content areas:
