This course is for the wind player or percussion player that has a desire to continue learning and growing in the area of instrumental music performance without participating in marching band. Each student will continue development of technique and musicianship. Students will be challenged in both solo and ensemble work throughout the semester. Instruments will be provided by the student or rented in cooperation with the directors. All rehearsals and performances are required. Performances include but are not limited to Fall Extravaganza, Holiday Concert, and the ISSMA concert band festival.
Prerequisite: Previous instrumental experience
This fall semester course is for all percussionists who intend to be a part of the marching band. There is no audition to be in the class, but auditions will take place for placement in the drumline and front ensemble in late April or early May. In addition to the continued study of advanced percussion techniques and musicianship, this ensemble has after-school rehearsals. Members of the Marching Band Percussion Ensemble are eligible to enroll for one summer band credit for rehearsals conducted over the summer months. The Marching Band Percussion Ensemble performs with the Marching band for football games, contests and participate in local parades. Fees for participation in Marching band range between $650 and $750. Percussion students should select Intermediate (grades 9-10) or Advanced Concert Band (grades 11-12) second semester to complete their percussion studies.

In addition to the continued study of string techniques and musicianship, this ensemble will have the opportunity to utilize acquired skills through performances. Performances include the Holiday concert, Spring Instrumental Concert, ISSMA Solo and Ensemble and Fine Arts Night. Students must provide their own instrument and black concert attire for performances.

This course is and advanced jazz ensemble designed for students interested in studying, rehearsing, and performing advanced jazz repertoire and improvisation. . Students study, listen to, and rehearse the various styles of jazz as well as the techniques of improvisation. The jazz ensemble performs at the NACS Band Extravaganza, Holiday Concert, Multiple Jazz Festivals, Jazz Cafe, Spring Instrumental Concert, Spring Fine Arts Night and various other concerts throughout the year.
Prerequisite: Previous jazz experience and audition in the spring
Note: This course fulfills the course requirement for student participation in Marching Band.
