SUMMARY PROFILE
Dr. Hawa Petro Tundui is a holder of PhD in Entrepreneurship (2012) from University of Groningen and Master of Business Administration (2004) from University of Agder. Currently she is working with Mzumbe University in Tanzania as a Senior Lecturer in Marketing and Entrepreneurship related courses and Dean of School of Business.
Dr Hawa is also a supervisor of PhD and Master students of Mzumbe University and other Universities in Tanzania. She is also an external examiner of Sokoine University of Agriculture, Moshi Cooperative University, and Cape Peninsula University of Technology (Faculty of Business & Management Sciences – South Africa).
At Mzumbe University, Hawa has worked as the Head, Department of Business Administration (DBA), Examination Officer, Associate Dean – School of Business, before being appointed as the Dean, School of Business in January 2015.
Hawa has authored and published several articles in business management and performance, SMEs and women entrepreneurship. Her research interests are SMEs performance, Women entrepreneurship, Marketing and Strategic Management.
Regarding research projects, Hawa is a project leader for Entrepreneurship project under VLIR-UOS since 2012, which is funded by Belgium government. As a project leader, she is responsible to supervise and coordinate all project activities in which the project had two-fold objectives: Capacity building at the University and Empowering Micro Small Enterprises (MSEs) through micro training.
Hawa is also a project member in a project funded by DANIDA titled: Crowdfunding for Youth Entrepreneurship in Tanzania (C4YET – 2019-2023). The overall objective of C4YET is to promote the sustainability of youth–led businesses and start-ups through increased access to finance (crowdfunding).
She is also a member of SUSTAIN Project (2019- 2022) funded by Norwegian government. The overall purpose of SUSTAIN is to advance international understanding, intercultural competence and international networks for students and faculty through mobility and capacity exchange, thus contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
