PowerGrid VR
PowerGrid VR
ABSTRACT
This report focuses on development of VR-based experienceable education simulation by understanding load-shedding scenarios in Cape Town, South Africa. With this education system, a power grid operation trainee can interact with the control panel and receive haptic feedback by controllers. Also, improve public understanding of power grid management.
PowerGrid VR is a single user VR experience that simulates a power grid control room in the scene of Cape Town, allowing users to make load-shedding decisions based on historical scenarios. The single-user experience simulates a power grid control room, tasking users with making resource management decisions based on historical scenarios. The simulation encompasses diverse areas of Cape Town-including Khayelitsha, the Atlantis Industrial Area and Stellenbosch-each with unique power demands. This project positions PowerGrid VR as a tool to bridge the gap between electricity management and the impact on communities, aiming to deepen the argument among the public about energy equity and resource distribution.
