The Illinois Music Educators All District Orchestra Festival is an annual event featuring the top junior high school musicians from several schools in our area. Auditioning for the All District Orchestra is optional. This opportunity has proven to be a challenging and rewarding experience for those who have participated. Not only do students get to work on challenging music, but they also have the opportunity to work with other students from surrounding communities and a different conductor.
Festival orchestra participants are selected by an audition process. Students prepare the assigned music and will play excerpts for the judges individually. The judges select the students for the orchestra based on audition performance and number of instruments needed in each section.
