Venice is one of the most beautiful and unique cities to visit in Italy. Walking around, you'll notice the historic buildings all covered in traditional red roof tiles. You'll hear street music and Italian vendors, but you won't hear any cars. Why? Because there aren't any! Instead you might hear the roar of a motor boat or the splash of a paddle. If you don't want to walk or bike around Venice, you'll need to take a boat. Don't worry though, the city is full of canals that connect all parts just like streets in other cities do. There's even a bus boat that picks people up and drops people off so long as you have a bus pass. Only fun adventures await in Venice, Italy!
One of the most famous things to do in Venice is take a ride in a gondola. A gondola is a special kind of boat unique to Venice. It moves along by the gondolier pushing the boat along with a big stick. Gondola tours are a great way to see the city. You can float through alleys, under bridges, and even through tiny canals that don't have sidewalks. Plus, you'll get to view the Grand Canal, which has all the most beautiful buildings and churches facing it. Gondola rides can be used to tour the city, or simply like a taxi to get from here to there. Remember, there aren't any roads in most of Venice, only rivers and sidewalks. Boats are the only way to get around while staying off your feet. If you choose a gondola ride, you'll be getting around in style.
One of the things Venice is famous for is their glass work. The island of Mureno is most famous for their glass art. Hop on a ferry from the main island and you can be there in fifteen minutes. Once there, you can attend a tour at one of their glass blowing shops. Craftsmen all over the island demonstrate how to make various glass pieces right in front of an audience! They have a furnace that has melted glass in it. They get some glass on a large stick, then they use special tools to mold the glass into amazing shapes, such as a horse. The glass is way too hot to touch, so craftsmen wear protective equipement to not get burned. After the show, you can buy some glass crafts if you want to take one home.Â
The gondola rides and glass art are two of the most amazing things to see in Venice, Italy. You can take a lazy day riding in the rivers of the city, or go watch amazing art be made right in front of your eyes. Venice is a city that is full of history, art, archetecture and so much more.
