## Important disclaimer
Kids Safe Tech is developed by MySecureWisdom, an independent developer. It is a
parental control app: a parent installs it on a child's phone, chooses which apps
need a PIN, and sets time limits.
The app is **local-first**. Everything about how you have set it up — which apps
you protect, your time limits, your blocked times, and how long each app has been
used — stays on the device. None of it is uploaded, and there is no account to
create. The only information that leaves the phone is an anonymous crash report
when the app stops unexpectedly.
There is no advertising, no analytics, and no advertising ID.

## Information we collect
### Configuration data (stored locally only)
Held in the app's private storage on the phone, never transmitted:
- **Which apps you have protected**, and the rule you chose for each one
- **Your time settings** — daily allowances, head starts, blocked times
- **Your parent key** — the secret behind your Authenticator codes. It is
encrypted with a key held in the Android Keystore, hardware-backed on devices
that support it, and cannot be read by other apps
- **Your backup password**, stored only as a one-way hash, and your tap pattern
### App usage data (stored locally only)
- **How long each protected app has been used**, kept for up to seven days so the
parent console can show recent screen time. Older entries are deleted
automatically.
### Diagnostic data (anonymous, via Google Firebase Crashlytics)
If the app stops unexpectedly, a report is sent so the fault can be found and
fixed. It contains the technical circumstances of the crash: the stack trace,
your device model and manufacturer, the Android version, the app version, and a
randomly generated identifier for the installation.
It does **not** contain your parent key, your PIN, your settings, your usage
figures, or the list of apps on the phone.
### What we never collect
- No name, email address, phone number or account of any kind
- No location
- No contacts, messages, photos or files
- No browsing history or search history
- No advertising ID — the app contains no advertising or analytics SDKs
- **No screen contents.** See "About the accessibility service" below.

## How we use your information
**Local processing.** Your configuration and usage counters are read only by the
app itself, on the device, to decide whether an app should be locked and to draw
the parent console. They are never sent anywhere.
**App improvement.** Anonymous crash reports are used solely to diagnose and fix
faults. The app also asks Google Play whether a newer version is available, so a
parent running a build with a known fault can be offered the fix.

## Permissions we request
Android requires a person to grant each of these by hand. None can be enabled by
the app itself.

### About the accessibility service
Parental control apps need to know which app is in the foreground, and Android
offers no other reliable way to do it. Ours is configured to receive **window
state changes only**, and is declared with `canRetrieveWindowContent="false"`.
In plain terms: the app is told *"the foreground window now belongs to
com.example.something"* and nothing more. It cannot read what is on screen, what
is typed, messages, passwords or page contents — not by policy, but because it
never requests the capability. This is visible in the app's published manifest
and can be verified independently.

## Data storage and security
**Local storage.** Settings and usage counters live in the app's private storage,
which other apps cannot read. The parent key is encrypted with a key held in the
Android Keystore. Cloud backup and device-to-device transfer are deliberately
disabled for this app, so your parent key and credential hashes cannot be carried
off the device by Android's backup system.
**Data deletion.** Uninstalling the app deletes all of it. Usage figures older
than seven days are deleted automatically while the app is installed. Settings can
be changed or cleared at any time from the parent console.

## Backups you create
The parent console can export your configuration as a block of text so you can
restore it on a replacement phone. That block is encrypted with a passphrase you
choose, and it is handed to you — we never receive it, and cannot read it or
recover it if the passphrase is lost.
Where you store or send it is your choice, and it does carry your parent key, so
treat it as a secret.

## Third-party services
**Google Firebase Crashlytics** receives the anonymous crash reports described
above, on our behalf.
**Google Play** handles the update check.
Google's handling of this data is covered by the
[Google Privacy Policy](https://policies.google.com/privacy).
No other third-party service receives any data from this app.

## Children's privacy
Kids Safe Tech is a tool **for parents**. It is installed, configured and unlocked
by an adult, on a device a child uses.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Nothing a child
does in another app is recorded, transmitted or readable by us. The usage figures
the console shows are counts of seconds, held on the device, and never uploaded.
If the app crashes while a child is holding the phone, the crash report described
above is generated. It carries technical details of the fault, not anything about
the child.

## Data sharing and sale
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers, data brokers, or
any other third party. There is no data to sell: your configuration and usage
figures never leave your device, and the crash reports are anonymous technical
diagnostics.

## International users
The app stores your data on your own device, wherever you are. Anonymous crash
reports are processed by Google on infrastructure that may be located outside your
country. By using the app you consent to that processing as described in this
policy and in the Google Privacy Policy.

## Your rights and choices
- **Crash reporting** can be avoided entirely by uninstalling the app; no crash
data is sent unless the app actually crashes.
- **Every permission is optional at the OS level** — you may revoke any of them in
Android Settings at any time, though protection will stop working for the ones
it depends on.
- **Deletion.** Uninstalling removes all local data. To ask for crash data
associated with your installation to be deleted, contact us at the address
below.
- **Access.** We hold no account, profile, or personal record about you, so there
is nothing to export beyond what is already on your device.

## Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address and the
effective date above updated. Material changes will also be noted in the app's
Google Play release notes.
