Information for Parents
The transition from high school to the "real world" can feel like a maze. Whether your student is looking at Enlistment, Enrollment, or Employment, the Pathways to Possibilities Career Fair & Internship Expo is designed to give you the map.
While students explore the expo floor, we have designed exclusive sessions specifically for parents and guardians. We invite you to join us in person to:
Get the Inside Track: Hear directly from recruiters and admissions officers about what they are really looking for in 2026.
Demystify the Process: Get clarity on the latest changes to college applications, trade certifications, and military benefits.
Bridge the Gap: Learn how to support your student’s specific interests while ensuring they meet all graduation requirements.
Detailed information on Enrollment opportunities will be provided during our live 45-minute workshops. Join us on the first floor of Building L in room 106 during the expo. Sessions include:
INFORM YOUR PATHWAY: Learn more about pathways and possibilities in SCPS and future planning implications. Topics include: Programs of Emphasis, Career Pathways, Xello & Bright Futures.
ACCELERATE YOUR PATHWAY: The "why" and "how" of accelerating my student in high school and how it can set your student apart. Topics include: Industry Certification, Dual Enrollment, Career Pathways & Advanced courses.
FINANCE YOUR PATHWAY: Learn how to plan ahead and finance your postsecondary opportunities. Topics include: Scholarships, FAFSA, Bright Futures, GPA considerations, etc.
Detailed information on Enlistment opportunities will be provided during our live 30-minute session. Join us on the first floor of Building L in room 103 during the expo.
ALL BRANCHES, ONE FUTURE: A comprehensive session for students and parents to explore the world of military enlistment. Meet with Active Duty and Reserve experts from the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines to get your questions answered about service, training, and long-term success.
Many parents want to help but don't know what to ask. Provide a list of "Car Ride Questions":
"Which business booth surprised you the most today?"
"Did you meet anyone who has a job you’d actually enjoy doing every day?"
"What is one thing you learned about the difference between a job and a career?"
Information is power. Don't miss the chance to help your student drive their future. We look forward to seeing you at Pathways to Possibilities!
