2026 Boys and Girls Basketball Schedule *Schedule subject to change.
Required Forms and Payment
Once your player is chosen and accepts a spot on the team, the following items listed below need to be submitted before the first scheduled game. Forms can be submitted to the front office. No exceptions.
Submit an FHSAA SPORTS PHYSICAL to the front office. The FHSAA Sports physical must be within 365 days and must be signed by a Licensed Healthcare Provider and cannot expire until end of season. The FHSAA sport physical stays on file for 365 days from date of physical. ***We cannot accept a regular school health entry exam/physical. It MUST be an FHSAA sports physical.
Basketball Contract
Submit Medical Information and Waiver before 1st game to the front office.
$50 Payment in My School Bucks. Payment link is activated after player makes the team and is GPA cleared. Your Mustang will get to keep Markham warm up shirt.
We recommend you keep a copy of all paperwork submitted.
Girls

Coaches are looking for the following skills:
Ball Handling- The ability to dribble the ball without turning it over.
Shooting- Not just standing at the 3-point line but lay-up and mid-range jumpers.
Effort- Playing defense.
Following Directions- Students that listen to instructions, follow directions and give their best effort to do what coaches are trying to teach.
PRACTICES
Athletic shoes with laces and athletic clothing required for practice.
ALL STUDENTS MUST BE PICKED UP BY 6:00!!! Late pick-ups from practice and games may result in removal from team.
Needed Equipment For Games
-Athletic shoes with laces.
-Markham will provide a jersey and shorts-that must to be returned. Player will also receive a warm-up shirt-that the player gets to keep. **Unreturned jerseys will be submitted to bookkeeping and negative balance will follow student to high school. All fees must be paid before high school diploma is released.
Game Day Responsibilities (Wednesdays)
All athletes will report to the gym after dismissal. Girls and boys will sit on opposite sides of the gym.
All athletes will be responsible for setting up the gym before the match. Failure to do so may result in the loss of play time or spot on the team.
Floors Swept - Floors damp mopped -Scoring table set up
Team chairs set up for bench area -Side hoops put up
Away teams will take the team bus to the visiting school. The bus arrives around 4:00 PM. Players do not have to take the bus back. They may go home with parent/guardian*****.
Game Start Times
JV Games start around 4:45 PM
Varsity Games start 15 minutes after JV game ends
When Galileo is on the home schedule JV will play Galileo after Varsity Game, so JV vs visiting team, Varsity vs visiting team then JV vs Galileo. If Galileo is on the schedule for an away game we do not play Galileo. Just like a normal away game. Our JV vs home team, then our Varsity vs home team and we are done.
AFTER THE GAMES
Home Games
EVERYONE NEEDS TO STAY AND HELP PUT EVERYTHING AWAY!!! It only takes 10 minutes if everyone helps. If everyone leaves it takes the coaches at least an hour. Please don’t do that to the coaches.
Away Games
*****Before you leave the student needs to tell the coach they are leaving, and the parent/guardian needs to acknowledge they are taking them. If any student is left unchecked the coaches, then have to search the school looking for them and notifying authorities we have a missing student. This is a huge hassle. Please be sure to check your student out.
