This year, your child will be participating in Miss Ashdown's Reading Olympics. The goal of the OPTIONAL fourth grade Reading Olympics is to provide a fun and challenging program for 4^th graders to expand and extend their reading skills. This year 4^th graders are encouraged to read 20 new books (at their independent reading level) AND to show proof of reading each book through a variety of projects.

In the Reading Olympics program, students read a book and share the book with the class by completing book projects. As students read, they progress through four Olympic levels: Olympian, Bronze, Silver, and Gold. There are five different book reports and five projects to choose from within each level. Students must satisfactorily complete book projects in each level before moving on to the next level. Book reports within a level may be done in any order.

Participating in and completing the Reading Olympics is a challenging goal for all students to work towards this year. Students who complete the Reading Olympics Gold level will receive a special Gold Medal! (Participation in the full Reading Olympics program is a family decision, not an academic requirement.)
