Situation (S):
When I first started at the River Transport Vocational School in Kyiv, we faced several challenges:
Diverse Student Backgrounds: We had two groups of students with varying levels of academic preparation, ranging from post-8th grade to post-high school/university. The high school/university graduates, while having a stronger foundation, still required reinforcement of secondary school grammar concepts to refresh their knowledge and improve their skills.
Outdated Curriculum: The primary learning material was a scanned copy of a university-level engineering textbook, which was both outdated and inaccessible for many students.
Disruptive External Factors: Frequent air alerts and the need for distance learning due to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine significantly impacted the traditional classroom setup.
Limited Resources: The Vocational School website (link provided) indicated a focus on traditional methods, and resources for implementing modern, technology-based teaching were likely scarce.
Misaligned English Language Courses: The General English Standard course was unrelated to the motormen's job and the Professional English course because it focused on broad language skills rather than industry-specific terminology, communication scenarios, or technical vocabulary directly applicable to maritime and engineering tasks.

To address these challenges, I aimed to:
Enhance Student Engagement: Develop a more interactive and engaging learning experience for all students, regardless of their background.
Modernize the Curriculum: Update the curriculum to align with current industry standards and incorporate modern teaching methodologies.
