Class Expectations

This class will be very fun. You will be given the opportunity to create many interesting and exciting items. After this class, you will look at the world in a different way. In order to be successful, you will need to have an open mind. You will be challenged in both the creative and technical realms. We will learn several state-of-the-art applications during this school year. I have all confidence that you will successfully complete this class and create a wonderful portfolio of work. In order to succeed, though, you must attend this class every day.

Failure to follow my rules (or other established school wide rules) will result in the following responses:

  • Warning/redirection
  • Removal from classroom
  • Parent call
  • Disciplinary referral

For serious rule violations, it may be necessary to proceed directly to a disciplinary referral.


Your grades will be determined by:

Classroom Participation - 10%

Projects - 90%

What does it take to succeed in your class? Attend class, complete all assignments, ask for help when you need it, and keep organized. The projects will take care of themselves if you get help as you need it.

What happens if I don't turn in a project on time? A project not turned in on the due date receives a one letter grade deduction.

Can I turn in homework late? Homework not turned in on the due date will receive only 50% credit.

What if I miss a day? It is your responsibility to get any missed assignments and notes. I will be available before school to make sure you understand concepts missed. If you miss a test, it will be scored as a zero until made up. Tests are not made up during class time.

May I use the bathroom? Each student may use three general purpose passes every quarter. You may use them when I am not teaching a lesson. After you use them, they are gone. Planner and ID are required to use passes, and you will sign out on my exit log anytime you leave.

May I use my cell-phone or iPod as my calculator? No, use your computer.

Do you give extra credit? Rarely and only if you have submitted all of your projects.

I received a 79 in your class, could you round it to a 'B'? As a teacher it is essential that I provide accurate grades. When reviewing my semester grades, I weigh in several factors in regards to rounding: Did the student turn in every assignment? Are the student's grades heading up or down? Does the student have a good attitude? Is the student putting forth a great effort?
