OAA Mustangs!
January 6th we welcomed 2026 and stepped into the 3rd quarter of the school year with hearts full of gratitude and expectation. God has faithfully carried us through the first half of the year, and we remain confident that He will continue to guide, protect, and strengthen our school community in the months ahead.
This new quarter is a wonderful opportunity for renewed focus for our students, renewed purpose for our staff, and renewed partnership with our families.
Together, we remain committed to developing, nurturing and affirming the whole child; mind, body, and spirit; while upholding the values that make Oakwood Adventist Academy a place where faith and excellence meet.
Thank you for your continued prayers, support, and trust. As we move forward, let us do so united in Christ, believing that “He who has begun a good work in you will complete it” (Philippians 1:6).
Enjoy issue 7 of Mustang News!
Blessings,
The OAA Administration
At OAA, our students are encouraged to grow not only in athletics but also in knowledge, character, and faith. Recently, our basketball players took a field trip to the Old Courthouse at Gateway Arch National Park in St. Louis, MO, immersing themselves in African American history and the powerful stories of resilience, courage, and freedom.
During the visit, students explored exhibits detailing the era of slavery, the fight for freedom, and the historic Dred and Harriet Scott case, gaining a deeper understanding of the struggles and triumphs that shaped our nation.
This experience reminded our student-athletes that being a leader on the court goes hand-in-hand with being informed, compassionate, and socially aware off the court.
Get ready to roll! Oakwood Adventist Academy Students Association (OAASA) is hosting a Skate Night for all students in grades K–12 on Saturday, January 18, 2026, from 4:00–7:00 PM at the Millet Activity Center (OU Skating Rink).

We are grateful for the continued prayers and support of our Southern Union leadership. The following message was shared by the Southern Union Associate Director of Education after their time of prayer and reflection over Oakwood Adventist Academy:
"Greetings Principal Dent,
On Tuesday, January 6, the Southern Union Conference had the joy of celebrating Oakwood Adventist Academy. Please know that we lifted OAA in prayer and shared the many ways our Heavenly Father has blessed your campus.
We continue to keep you in our prayers as you lead and serve, covering your students and their families, faculty and staff, administration, constituents, and board. May God continue to guide your efforts and strengthen the important work taking place at Oakwood Adventist Academy."

At Oakwood Adventist Academy, faith is at the heart of every classroom. Our 3rd graders start each day with a special prayer circle, a moment to gather as a class, lift up their hearts to God, and ask for guidance, wisdom, and protection before diving into their daily lessons.
This daily practice helps students center themselves, build community, and grow spiritually alongside their peers. It’s a beautiful reminder that learning at OAA is not just about academics; it’s about developing, nurturing and affirming the mind, body, and spirit.
Through these moments of prayer, our students are encouraged to support one another, practice gratitude, and strengthen their relationship with God, setting a positive tone for the entire school day.
