The Community Schools Strategy is aligned with Chancellor Carranza’s priority to advance equity now, and provides a framework for schools to address those inequities.
Through collaborative planning, strategic resource allocation, and community-based partnerships, schools can offer equitable opportunities to help students navigate barriers so that they can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Every school can implement the collaborative leadership and practice that is the foundation of the Community School strategy by:
- embedding community partnerships into their Comprehensive Education Plans
- partnering with communities to ensure allocation of resources to drive equitable outcomes that support the whole child
- aligning instruction with out-of-school offerings to support student learning
The Getting Started Toolkit offers additional ideas and resources that any school can use to implement the Community School strategy.
