Summary:
Anirudh Sharma and Majd Mashharawi have come up with ways use pollutants such as ashes and air pollutants created by many engines to create a functional product.
Anirudh created ink out of air pollution. The air pollution that millions of people breathe every day, and causes many diseases. After seeing the black marks produced by the emissions of a generator, he had an idea about making ink with it, so he started by experimenting using a bit of pollution he collected, a candle, vegetable oil, and vodka. This resulted in a form of ink that could be used to print things or draw. After seeing the success of his experiment, he decided to set up a lab and start working on capturing and recycling the air pollution by using a conventional car and finding ways to capture the pollution it produced. He was approached by a big company, where he got to create a variety of products with his ink that many artists around the world use now.
Majd, who grew up in Gaza, seeing the consequences of the war in her community, was inspired to help people rebuild their homes. She started experimenting with items like paper, glass powder and mud. After failing all those experiments and many more, she realized that after burning many things in her experiments she had a lot of ashes. She decided to try and use those ashes and rubble of demolished houses, with that, she created a block. She uses rubble and ashes that come from landfills, which go through a process of baking and water steam to create the blocks to help reconstruct the houses of her community. Aside from that she has provided many families from her community with solar power.

It amazes me how people like Aniruhd and Madj have come up with such innovative ideas to help our environment and communities by creating these products made of items I would have never thought of using, which are products we could use all around the world. I hope their ideas expand to the point where everyone uses this kind of products and is inspired to create something just like they did. It was also very inspiring to me and made me thinks of ways I can create something as well to give back to my community while helping to take care of our planet.
